WFS Inventory Is Due Tomorrow

· Stephen Fullington

Warehouse loading dock with a September calendar circled on the 1st, showing the WFS inbound deadline.

Walmart published the date weeks ago. Most catalogs still treat it like a soft target.

It is not. Inventory for Walmart's October Event has to arrive at a WFS fulfillment center by September 1. That is tomorrow.

What happened (confirmed)

Walmart Marketplace's own holiday logistics checklist and WFS overview both state the same inbound targets:

• Arrive by September 1 for the October Event

• Arrive by September 15 for the Annual Event

Arrive means received into the network, not left a 3PL, not sitting on a dock waiting for an appointment. Work the calendar backward from those dates for production, transit, and receiving.

The rest of the checklist is not filler. Walmart is pointing sellers at Customer Favorites, WFS conversion of high-volume SKUs, Cross Border Imports booking deadlines, Multichannel Solutions, and Inventory Transfer Services. The fee hooks that only work if the unit is actually in network include 100% off referral fees, 100% off storage fees, and 15% off fulfillment fees on qualifying Customer Favorite items that meet or beat competitor pricing and ship fast and free through WFS, through January 31, 2027. WFS still advertises zero peak-season storage fees and no fuel surcharge.

Walmart also says sellers using WFS see 50% GMV growth, on average, for items with the Fulfilled by Walmart tag and delivery promises of two days or less (Walmart first-party data, 6/30/24–6/30/25 on the WFS overview page).

Why this matters

We already covered Walmart's Q2: marketplace up 52%, nearly half of marketplace volume on WFS, Connect up 43%. That growth only converts if the SKU can keep a two-day promise in October.

If your October Event units are not already in transit or sitting at a WFS node today, you are not making September 1. Be honest about that. Do not invent a truck that does not exist. Move the plan to the September 15 Annual Event receive-by and protect the SKUs that still have a shot.

Amazon operators reading this on Monday morning have a parallel clock. Prime Big Deal Days deal submissions close September 8. Black Friday Week and Cyber Monday early-submission discount ends September 5 ($50 off the upfront deal fee). Amazon inbound for Prime Big Deal Days lands September 2 (AWD), September 9 (FBA minimal splits), and September 16 (Amazon-optimized splits). Two networks, one inventory pool, overlapping cutoffs in the next two weeks.

Who it affects most

• Brands with a live Walmart catalog and no open WFS inbound for October Event SKUs

• Teams that treated September 1 as "early September" instead of a receive-by

• Anyone pouring Walmart Connect into seller-fulfilled listings that cannot hold two-day into the October Event

• Multichannel operators still deciding Amazon vs Walmart allocation this week

• Finance models that booked Q4 Walmart revenue without a WFS receive date attached

What CoreTrex would do this week

1. Pull every open WFS shipment. If it cannot physically arrive by tomorrow, re-label it for the September 15 Annual Event window and stop pretending it is an October Event unit.

2. Rank Walmart SKUs by last-90-day GMV, conversion, and Buy Box. The September 15 inbound is for those SKUs only, not the whole catalog.

3. Confirm appointments, pallet compliance, and ASN status on anything still rolling. A late truck with a rejected pallet is a missed event, not a near miss.

4. Turn Connect off or down on listings that will not be WFS-badged for the October Event. Do not buy traffic into a fulfillment miss.

5. Put the Amazon September 5 early-deal discount and September 8 Prime Big Deal Days submission close on the same board. One inventory meeting, both calendars.

Our take

Walmart did not hide this date. It put September 1 on the WFS homepage.

The operators who win October are the ones who already moved. Everyone else still has September 15. That is a real date, not a consolation prize, but only if you treat it like a receive-by instead of another soft target.

October Event inventory still not in the network? CoreTrex will kill the fantasy inbound, rebuild the September 15 plan around the SKUs that actually convert, and keep Connect on listings that can keep the promise. Talk to a strategist.
