Walmart changed one line in its suspension policy on October 2, and it matters more than it looks. A suspended account that sits there without a successful appeal can now be terminated. Termination on Walmart is permanent, and it cannot be appealed.
If you have ever treated a Walmart suspension like a waiting room, stop.
What happened (confirmed)
Walmart updated its "Suppression, pause, suspension and termination policy" guide on Marketplace Learn on October 2, 2026. The suspension definition now includes this line: "Walmart reserves the right to terminate qualifying seller accounts that remain suspended beyond a reasonable threshold without successful appeal or reinstatement."
Walmart did not publish a number of days for that threshold.
The rest of the suspension definition is the same. Both seller-fulfilled and Walmart-fulfilled (WFS) listings go non-transactable and non-discoverable on Walmart.com, Seller Center access is restricted, and payments are put on hold.
Termination removes all listings, permanently revokes selling privileges and Seller Center access, and holds payments. Walmart's appeal guide says that if selling privileges are terminated, Walmart is not required to give a reason and appeals will not be granted.
To appeal a suspension, Walmart says to select Help in Seller Center, contact support, and submit a written business plan of action. Depending on the reason, Walmart may require current warehouse images, distributor or supplier invoices less than two months old, or intellectual property documents. Appeals are handled in the order they are received.

Why this matters
Until now, a Walmart suspension was painful but recoverable on your own schedule. Plenty of sellers parked a suspended account, focused on Amazon or DTC, and planned to come back to Walmart later. Walmart just told you that plan can end with the account gone.
"Reasonable threshold" with no number is the part I would not ignore. No published clock means you should assume the clock is short.
The timing is rough, too. Walmart's October Deals event runs October 5 through 11, and the holiday push is right behind it. A suspension right now freezes your WFS listings and your payouts during the best selling weeks of the year. Letting it drag now risks losing the account on top of losing Q4.
Who it affects most
• Sellers with a suspended Walmart account and no appeal filed
• Brands with a denied appeal that was never resubmitted
• Cross-border sellers flagged for compliance, IP, or account verification issues
• WFS sellers with inventory sitting in Walmart's network under a suspended account
• Agencies and ops teams running multiple seller accounts where Walmart notices land in an inbox nobody watches
What sellers should do this week
1. Check every Walmart account you own or manage. Confirm the status in Seller Center, not from memory.
2. If an account is suspended, file the appeal now. Select Help in Seller Center, contact support, and submit a plan of action that names the root cause, what you fixed, and how you will prevent it from happening again.
3. Gather the evidence before you submit: invoices under two months old, current warehouse photos, and brand or IP documents where they apply. A thin appeal is the slowest appeal.
4. If an appeal was denied, do not let it sit. Resubmit with what was missing.
5. Route Seller Center and email policy notices to someone who reads them daily. Walmart says you cannot unsubscribe from these notices, so there is no excuse for missing one.
6. Treat suppression and pause notices as early warnings. Fixing performance at that stage keeps you out of the suspension queue entirely.
Our take
This is Walmart acting like a mature marketplace. A suspension is now a problem to fix, not a status to wait out.
The fix is boring and it works: know your account status, keep your documentation clean, and treat every Walmart notice like it has a deadline, because now it effectively does.
If you have a Walmart account sitting in suspension, or a performance warning you have been putting off, this is the week to deal with it. CoreTrex can audit your Walmart account health, build the plan of action, and push for reinstatement before the holiday window closes. Talk to a strategist.
